A Life Lived Across Continents. A Career Built Around People.
I’m Val — a Memphis native, Navy veteran, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology practitioner who has spent the last decade moving across industries, states, and cultures to understand one thing deeply: how people work, lead, and thrive.
My career began in the U.S. Navy, where I toured throughout Asia and the Middle East. Those years shaped my understanding of leadership more than any classroom ever could. I saw firsthand how communication, emotional intelligence, and strategic clarity could make or break a team — especially in high‑pressure environments. That experience sparked my decision to pursue a master’s degree in industrial/organizational psychology and ultimately shaped the way I approach every role I’ve held since.
After transitioning into the civilian sector, I built a diverse foundation across retail, transportation, higher education, and the plasma industry — including roles with Finish Line, Walgreens, Octapharma, Adidas, University of Texas (HSC), and FedEx Office. Each environment gave me a different lens into organizational culture, employee motivation, and the gaps leaders face when navigating complex, fast‑moving workplaces.
I’ve lived in Memphis, Murfreesboro, Nashville, San Diego, Los Angeles, and now the Dallas–Fort Worth area, carrying each place with me in how I connect with people and interpret organizational dynamics. Today, I work in the corporate sector focusing on employee experience — specifically employee listening, organizational development, and leadership effectiveness. My work centers on understanding the employee lifecycle, designing experiences that support performance and clarity, and partnering with senior leaders to strengthen communication, decision‑making, and emotional intelligence.
Across every chapter of my career, one theme has stayed constant: I help organizations listen better, lead better, and build environments where people feel seen, supported, and capable of doing their best work.
